FASERIP is now on DriveThruRPG

As the title says, FASERIP has now been approved by DriveThruRPG and you can download it here.

Unlike Dark Dungeons and Blood, Guts & Glory, which are both free by default but allow you to pay something for them if you want to as a tip or gratuity (they’re set as “Pay what you want”), FASERIP is set to be a free download only and doesn’t give you that choice. The reason for this is because of the way the artwork is licensed – it doesn’t allow me to charge money for the game. Although technically setting it up as “Pay what you want” still allows people to get it for free, I think it comes too close to charging people for me to be comfortable doing that while sticking within the spirit of the artwork’s license.

  1. Does the new FASERIP version have any significant changes from the one currently available on Lulu? Any plans to offer an updated POD version? Thanks!

  2. The only change is to the Wizardry power. In the Lulu POD version, if you have the Gadgets option and fail to create a gadget (by rolling a white result) you must spend a “Determination” point to try again. This is an error (the game doesn’t use Determination points). The new version corrects this to spending 50 Karma to try again.

That’s the only material difference between the two versions other than a couple of minor typos that have been corrected.

I am intending to switch from using Lulu to using DriveThruRPG for POD in the medium to long term, and when I do so I’ll be using the new version; but until then it’s not worth updating the Lulu version for just the one correction (especially as it will cost me money to do that).

  3. A group of friends and I are going to be creating PCs / NPCs for a number of super-powered games (ICONS, M&M, etc.) and seeing as how we enjoy FASERIP, and those types of games in general, we would like to convert those PCs / NPCs over to FASERIP to put on RPGNow. I was just wondering if you had a logo for FASERIP that I could put on supplements for the game to indicate that they are for the game? They would of course be completely free of charge just like FASERIP.

    1. I don’t have a particular logo for FASERIP. I’d suggest just taking an image of the front cover title (not the whole picture, just the title) and reducing it in size.
